One hell of a personality by Lauren Edmunds

It has been a few days past a month since my husband had a mild heart attack. Since then he has gone from 30 cigarettes a day to none (obsolutely no smoking not even one drag - wow), seen a dietician and is sticking to it (apparently he has been starving himself for 20 years and still manages to be 30kg overweight) and he's started excerising. But this is not what I want to share with you today.

This morning over breakfast he pronounced in his usual don't-care-funny-very-endearing way that I better watch out. Thinking he was going to say he'd be skinnier than me before I could say no to my next cholocate I waited for what was to come. What he said next had me laughing so hard I couldn't get my next mouth full of eggs into my mouth.

He looked me straight in the eyes and said, "I have one hell of a personality so you better watch out because when I am ripped and gorgeous I wont be able to keep the girls away." Now if you are lucky enough to know my husband, you'll get it. A pinch of arrogance, when directed at your own self-esteem, is worth more than 50 self-help books, 20 motivational talks and endless affirmations and visualisation excercises.

I loved it, his take on what he has to do to get healthy is so very refreshing and inspiring. It mirrors his take on life, 'don't take yourself too seriously but make sure others do'. I still get caught out by his unique sense of humour even after 12 years of marriage and I enjoy his ability to be so inwardly strong, he inspires me constantly. Here's to you, babe!
